Who We Are
Originally, Ashland Economic Development was a Department within the City of Ashland. We have transitioned into a new organization, the Ashland Area Council for Economic Development, a regional council of government. This new organization was formed in December of 2005 and became the official EDO for the Ashland Area January 1, 2006.
AACED is a comprehensive economic development organization (EDO) operating under a public-private partnership structure. We strive to strengthen our local county economy in three primary areas: Business Retention & Expansion, Business Recruitment, and Contributions to Quality Planning and Quality of Life. Click here for a description of these overall strategies. In addition to our day-to-day activities, including working with our economic base and networking with prospective investors, AACED develops specific annual goals and objectives under this general framework. These goals and objectives represent, in our opinion, some pressing needs and opportunities that we are responsible for addressing. Click here for our 2009/2010 Action plan.
To assist in the success of our existing businesses, recruit new businesses in targeted industry sectors, and lead efforts to develop communities of choice that are attractive to investors, entrepreneurs, and citizens seeking gainful employment, which will enhance the quality of life in the Ashland area.
